Ender Başkan will be sharing some of his new writing; both prose and poetry, as well as earlier pieces, in this intimate session in the upstairs room at Tanswells. Bring up a drink from the bar and engage with some of the personal and political challenges that we face in contemporary Australia through the words of this thoughtful and thought-provoking writer. This is presented as part of this year’s Winterwords program in Beechworth.
Ender lives and works on Wurundjeri country in Melbourne, Australia. He is a poet, bookseller and co-founder of Vre Books, Agog Poetry events and Study experimental social space. His book A Portrait of Alice as a Young Man was published in 2019. He is the winner of the 2021 Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize. His writing has featured in Best of Australian Poems 2023, Overland, Meanjin, Cordite Poetry Review, unMagazine and Australian Book Review amongst others. His work, drawn heavily from everyday life, is concerned with the struggle to live a moral and spirited life in and beyond the ruins of capitalist modernity.
