Rain of Animals is the euphonious collaboration between Pepita Emmerichs (Oh Pep!) and Theodore Barnard (Wire & Wool) and their love of all things mandolin, fiddle, guitar, harmony vocals, bluegrass, oldtime, swing, tunes and songs.
We host an open jam on the third Thursday of each month from 7pm. We supply the backline (including PA and mics) so just bring your instrument and join in. All welcome!

Grassy Strings, a Kolkata-based duo bluegrass band, formed by guitarist/vocalist Souvik Hazra and mandolinist Subhankar Dhar. Specialising in American folk, swing and bluegrass music, this unique project from India has actively participated in various international music exchange activities over the past few years.
Grassy Strings predominantly performs traditional tunes and bluegrass standards, blending them with various Indian songs in different languages. Additionally, they even craft their own compositions and melodies. They actively perform bluegrass music in Kolkata and across the country, sharing the joy of this genre with Indian audiences. The band takes delight in every show as they introduce a multitude of people to bluegrass music for the first time through their performances.
The SKABHANGERS are playing at Tanswells Hotel for the first time! Taking inspiration from the sound of 1960s Jamaican ska and early rocksteady, the Skabhangers are a Naarm/Melbourne-based act gaining a reputation for their dynamic live shows. After emerging in late 2019 and performing where possible between lockdowns, 2022 saw the Skabhangers perform at the Jamaican Music & Food Festival and take home 2nd prize in PBS FM’s February Performer Drive! Their self-produced debut album, recorded in a back-shed home studio in Reservoir, was released in January 2023, and has received airplay locally and overseas. In September 2024 the Skabhangers undertook a successful tour through NSW to QLD, and in December played once again at the Jamaican Music & Food Festival! Performing two sets from 9pm. FREE ENTRY!
